This Wednesday, AJ Masthay goes BIG and pays homage to Nature’s gentle giants with his newest piece, Sequoia!
AJ is a true craftsman, always working on elevating both his art and his printmaking. We’re excited to present one of his tallest linocuts, coming in at a towering 30 inches, paying tribute to a location special to AJ and so many others. AJ has also created some seriously special watercolor variants and we’ll have the original color and graphite pieces available as well!
Per AJ, “I humbly present my latest and first ever large format linoleum block print “Sequoia…Being my first edition off my new (old) larger vandercook press, I wanted an image and narrative that pushed a sense of grandeur and awe. I thought back to times in my life where I was overwhelmed with that feeling, and none stood out more than a trip Kara and I made to Yosemite years ago and experiencing the immense Sequoia groves. It’s almost impossible not to give these ancients a hug when standing at their feet, at least it was for me. I hope I captured a sliver of that feeling, and of natures never ending beauty, in this image. Enjoy.”
