The Revenant was one of our favorite films of 2015. Leonardo Dicaprio and Tom Hardy’s wild, wilderness revenge story is a brilliantly vicious visual delight, all wrapped up in one of the most intense survival stories we’ve ever seen on the big screen. The film has a hauntingly open setting, and few artists can mix haunting imagery and atmosphere like Sam Connelly.
Sam’s two prints, released in partnership with Acme Archives, for The Revenant bring the early 19th century frontier setting to the forefront, showing just how frighteningly dire Dicaprio’s Hugh Glass has it as he struggles against so many unforgiving natural elements. Sam perfectly encapsulates the solitude present in the film within his snow-covered prints.
