Alex Ross pays the ultimate homage to Jim Lee’s iconic work!
Back in 2023, Marvel celebrated 60 years of magnificent mutant comics with comic covers covering the long and storied history of one of our favorite pockets of the Marvel Universe. Using Jim Lee’s legendary connecting covers for his X-Men run from 1991, Alex’s painted homage was the highlight of the 60th anniversary celebration. Shifting the perspective a bit, Alex’s interpretation of the X-Men vs Magneto fight from Jim’s original cover is both thrilling and kinetic and is an awesome example of one comics master interpreting another’s art–something we’re very fond of!
We’ve taken Alex’s full X-Men anniversary image and created lenticular and Multi-Layer Acrylic editions, bringing some unique depth and fun interactivity to Alex’s original painting.
