Batman and Wonder Woman are two pillars of modern superhero comics, and we’re proud to have two terrific, new, and officially licensed prints that honor these characters in their past and present forms.
Raid71’s print, Year One, pays tribute to the seminal Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli comic, Batman: Year One. The 4-part comic formed the foundation for Batman’s modern mythos, and its strikingly grounded take on Batman and James Gordon’s first year fighting crime in Gotham still holds up as a classic comic book story. Raid utilizes some of the coloring and lighting from the original comic, and does a great job of evoking the feel of Miller/Mazzucchelli’s story. We’re thrilled with how well Raid executed this print idea.
We’d also like to introduce Des Taylor, who goes by Despop, whose first release with us is an awesome Wonder Woman piece, Triumphant! Despop’s art style is so bold and so fluid, hs work almost looks animated. This Wonder Woman print is a great introduction to Despop’s style, and we’re excited to be working with him!
Both Raid71 and Des Taylor’s prints will be available for purchase Tuesday (4/25) @ 12PM ET on our homepage, Bottleneckgallery.com!
